Manila, Philippines | July 26, 2025 — The combined impact of three consecutive tropical cyclones and relentless southwest monsoon rains has left at least 30 people dead and millions affected across the Philippines, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
In its latest situation report released Saturday, the NDRRMC confirmed that tropical cyclones Crising, Dante, and Emong — which have since exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility — triggered severe flooding, landslides, and widespread displacement. The heavy rains continue, fueled by the southwest monsoon or habagat.
The National Capital Region (NCR) recorded the highest number of fatalities with nine deaths, followed by Western Visayas with six, and Calabarzon with four. At least ten others were injured while seven individuals remain missing.
Widespread Displacement and Damage
The weather disturbances have impacted a staggering 5.2 million people across 17 regions. At least 310,000 individuals have been displaced and are currently sheltering in 1,783 evacuation centers nationwide.
Flooding was reported in 1,401 areas, prompting 154 local government units to declare a state of calamity to fast-track emergency response and rehabilitation efforts.
Billions in Damages
Initial damage estimates from the NDRRMC indicate the severe toll on both infrastructure and agriculture:
- Infrastructure: P5 billion in damage across 368 structures
- Housing: 3,569 homes damaged, with losses amounting to P3.2 million
- Agriculture: P766 million in crop damage; over 19,000 hectares of farmland affected
- Livestock, Poultry & Fisheries: P11.86 million in losses
Over 19,000 farmers have been directly impacted by the storms, raising concerns about food supply and rural livelihoods in the coming months.
Authorities continue to conduct search, rescue, and relief operations in heavily affected areas. The government has appealed to the public for vigilance and cooperation as more rains are expected in the coming days.
Meanwhile, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is expected to visit some of the hardest-hit regions over the weekend to assess the situation and oversee relief distribution.
