ZAMBOANGA CITY – Two teenage boys ended up in hot water after they were caught on video riding a motorcycle completely naked — and dancing — along a busy street in Zamboanga City. The clip, which quickly made the rounds on social media, showed the minors pulling the reckless stunt along Governor Camins Avenue during curfew hours.
According to the Police Regional Office 9 (PRO9), the boys were arrested by Zamboanga City Police Station 11 led by Major Mohamar R. Mariwa after concerned citizens helped identify them.
“Walang helmet, walang damit, tapos sumasayaw pa habang nakasakay sa motor—what were they thinking?” said one stunned resident.
Brigadier General Eleazar P. Matta of PRO9 confirmed that the minors are now under investigation for reckless driving, alarm and scandal, and violations of local traffic laws.
Hands-on ang DSWD
The police immediately coordinated with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to ensure the minors are handled according to child protection laws.
“Hindi porke’t minor ay immune na sa batas. May proseso tayo, and we’re following that strictly,” Matta said.
LTO, parents, barangay – lahat kasali na
Authorities also reached out to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to trace the owners of the motorcycles used. Meanwhile, the parents or guardians of the teens were summoned and urged to take part in correcting their children’s behavior.
Mariwa added, “Ito na ang panahon para ang mga magulang ay maging aktibo sa disiplina. Hindi pwedeng puro ‘anak ko yan’ tapos deadma sa ginagawa nila.”
The incident occurred past 10 PM — well within Zamboanga City’s curfew for minors, which runs until 4 AM. Because of this, the city government is now calling on barangay officials to strictly enforce curfew and other youth protection ordinances.
Netizens react: ‘Para lang mag-viral?’
Online reactions ranged from disbelief to outrage.
“Okay lang ba sa magulang nila ‘to? Nakakahiya at delikado!” one comment read. Another user added, “Gagastos pa ng LTO at pulis dahil sa kaharutan nila. Kung nadisgrasya ‘yan, sino sisisihin?”
For now, the teens are in the custody of social workers as the case progresses — a viral moment that may have earned views, but also serious consequences.
