Philippine media icon Kris Aquino has revealed she will undergo six months of preventive isolation as she battles multiple autoimmune diseases — admitting she goes to bed each night fearing it could be her last.
The 54-year-old “Queen of All Media” posted an emotional update on Instagram, showing herself in hospital alongside her son Bimby.
“I have to admit, if I told you what was happening, some of you may stop praying,” Kris wrote. “My autoimmune diseases were increasing in number and my life-threatening ailments needed me to make a brave choice. Trust me, it’s difficult to accept every night when I sleep that there may be no tomorrow for me.”
Strongest Treatment Yet
Kris revealed she has another 6–8 hour infusion session in six days — one of the strongest immunosuppressants available — combined with two other medications, one taken daily and another via injection. The aggressive treatment will completely wipe out her immunity, forcing her into strict isolation in her family’s compound in Tarlac, fondly called “Alto.”
Family Sacrifices
She addressed questions about her sons, Joshua and Bimby, sharing that Josh — still traumatised from losing close relatives — is staying with a cousin, while 18-year-old Bimby has been her constant carer.
“Bimb has sacrificed much to take care of me. He is heaven’s gift, my optimistic adult who reminds me I should never surrender,” Kris wrote.
Faith and Gratitude
The TV host and actress said she recently spent almost two months recovering at a private beach property owned by friends who wanted her to regain her health and strengthen her faith.
She ended her post by thanking her doctors and nurses at Makati Medical Center and St Luke’s BGC, as well as the medical staff who have supported her through her treatments.
“PLEASE CONTINUE PRAYING,” she urged. “Kailangan na kailangan ko… Thank you to all who continue to believe gagaling pa rin ako. #tuloyanglaban.”
