MANILA, Philippines — Actress Lotlot de Leon couldn’t contain her joy as she celebrated the engagement of her younger brother Kenneth de Leon to longtime partner Sam — an emotional milestone made even more meaningful with the memory of their late mother, Philippine Superstar Nora Aunor.
In an emotional Instagram post on Sunday, July 27, Lotlot shared clips and photos from the surprise proposal, which took place during the birthday celebration of Kenneth and Sam’s daughter, Summer.
“Ma, your children were all together at the event. It’s your grandchild Summer’s birthday,” Lotlot wrote, addressing their late mom. “Ken, our youngest, proposed marriage to Sam. He asked for her hand in marriage. We are so happy to be part of this special day. And I know you’re smiling up there.”
The intimate family gathering was attended by siblings Matet and Kiko de Leon. Their brother Ian de Leon wasn’t immediately seen in the video posted, but their father, veteran actor Christopher de Leon, along with his wife Sandy Andolong, also sent their love and warm congratulations to the couple.
Lotlot, the eldest among her siblings, expressed how proud she is of Kenneth’s growth as both a father and a partner.
“Ken, I’m so proud of you. You’ve grown into such a loving dad to Summer and a devoted partner to Sam—who will now be your wife!” she wrote. “Sam, thank you for being a blessing to our family. We, your siblings, are always here for both of you.”
The engagement not only marks a new chapter for Kenneth and Sam, but also served as a bittersweet family reunion honoring their mother’s legacy of love, unity, and blessings — even beyond this life.
