A high school teacher was shot dead by his own student inside their school in Balabagan, Lanao del Sur, after allegedly failing the suspect in a subject.
Police said the attack happened around 8 a.m. on August 4 at Balabagan Trade School in Barangay Narra.
The victim, identified as Danilo Barba, was entering the campus when the 20-year-old Grade 11 student confronted him and shot him in the head with a .45-caliber pistol. Barba died instantly.
Suspect Admitted Motive
Investigators said the student fled to relatives in Marogong after the shooting but later surrendered to police with the help of his brother, who is an officer.
According to Balabagan Municipal Police, the suspect admitted to killing the teacher out of anger over being given a failing grade.
He is now facing a murder charge, and police and soldiers have been deployed to the area to ensure the safety of students and staff.
